CRAYONS COURSE KIDS CLASS
Crayons are a popular medium for creating art, especially among children. They are versatile, colorful, and easy to work with. Here are some ideas and techniques for creating crayon art:
Color blending: Crayons can be blended together to create new shades and gradients. You can achieve this by layering different colors on top of each other and then using a blending tool like a tissue paper or cotton swab to blend them together.
Wax resist: Crayons are made of wax, which creates an interesting effect when combined with water-based paints like watercolors. You can create a wax resist by drawing with crayons on paper and then applying watercolors on top. The wax will repel the water, creating a beautiful contrast between the crayon marks and the painted areas.
Texture rubbings: Place a textured object, such as a leaf or a coin, underneath a piece of paper. Then, use a crayon to rub over the paper, capturing the texture of the object beneath. This technique can create interesting patterns and designs.
Melted crayon art: Melted crayon art involves using a heat source, such as a hairdryer or a hot glue gun, to melt crayons onto a canvas or other surfaces. This creates vibrant and abstract drips of color. Remember to protect your workspace and use caution when working with heat.
Crayon etching: You can create intricate designs by scratching off layers of crayon using a pointed tool like a toothpick or a paper clip. This technique is called crayon etching and can be done on a variety of surfaces, including paper, cardboard, or even wood.
Crayon resist: Similar to wax resist with watercolors, crayon resist involves using crayons to draw on a surface and then applying another medium on top, such as ink or acrylic paint. The crayon marks will resist the new medium, creating interesting patterns and effects.
Mixed media: Combine crayons with other art materials like markers, colored pencils, or pastels to add more depth and variety to your artwork. You can experiment with different combinations to achieve unique effects and textures.
